The Border Patrol is an improved model of the Border Patrol rucksack, originally designed for the Border Guard. The original Border Patrol rucksack is a classic from 1989 and is still in active service with the Border Guards as well as numerous hunters and hikers.

The Jääkäri's numerous details and comprehensive “molle” alley make the backpack a truly modular and versatile tool. The slim design offers unhindered movement in cramped spaces and difficult terrain. Jääkäri is ideal for skiing and hiking. Thanks to its strong internal aluminum frame, as well as redesigned shoulder harness and a waist belt, Rajajääkäri is a really sturdy to carry. An internal tubular aluminium frame keeps the pack from sagging and transfers the pack weight onto your hips even when loaded down with heavy and cumbersome cargo. The compression straps help you to strap your loads down to a tight package.

The Jääkäri backpack is designed to be narrow, but still spacious enough to fit the equipment needed for a medium long hiking trip.

The mouth of the backpack bag is closed with overpacking and highly waterproof roll top technology. Thanks to the roll top, the height of the Rajajääkäri backpack is adjustable between 60cm and 80cm. The roll top mouth is locked with a 25mm quick release lock. The mouth is covered with a floatin lid, which is closed with straps. The lid is fastened on both sides with adjustable straps. This “floating” lid allows for easy overpacking and protection fot the overpacked load. The fair length of the straps gives plenty of space under the lid for accessories, such as a sleeping bag. Inside the lid is also a very spacious pocket (dimensions 26 x 30 cm) that can be closed with a zipper. The Rajajääkäri has a Velcro sticker (size: 5x13cm) for a name tag, flag or any tag selected by the user.

Inside the backpack is a closable divider that allows the backpack to be divided into two upper and lower parts. At the top, inside the backpack is a pocket that closes against the back with a sticker (dimensions 28cm x 50cm), which is a home to Rajajääkäri's aluminum support frame. This pocket can also be used for a hydration reservoir or accessories. The pocket also holds a small laptop. At the top of the backpack, just below the rolltop closure is a protected outlet for the hydration reservoir hose, cables or for antennas.

The contents of the lower part of the backpack are quickly accessible via a separate zipper. The zipper has two pulls with strings, so the lower part can be opened well anywhere you want, even with gloves on. PALS attachment webbing

A Jääkäri would not be a Jääkäri without the modularity brought by the PALS attachment webbing, or more familiarly “MOLLE”. PALS / MOLLE is a attachment system that is used by the military in almost every country. This attachment system has been created for a need that requires absolute modularity and durability. MOLLE stands for: Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment. PALS stands for: Pouch Attachment Ladder System.

By applying this technique, the Jääkäri backpack has been created as a top modular entirety. Molle can be found on the front, sides, lid of the Jääkäri and even on the carrying straps and waist belt. With Molle, you can attach any PALS-compatible pouch to almost anywhere you want. With the help of suitable pouches, the Jääkäri backpack can be expanded into a compact anatomical backpack. In addition to the modular attachment option, the mole webbing strengthens and supports the backpack. One loop of molle can withstand a pull of more than 100 kg.

Other attachment points:

The long fastening straps starts from above the Rajajääkäri's lower pocket and run up from the front all the way to the top lid 25mm quick-release fasteners. Similar staps also runs under the bottom of the Rajajääkäri and run up to the quick-release fasteners above the bottom pocket. If necessary, the 25mm strap dives nicely along the Molle webbing and can be lifted to the surface from where you want. This allows the item to be securely tied to the front of the backpack without extra loose straps. For example, rolled mats are well suited for carrying at the bottom.

Carrying

Particular attention has been paid to the Rajajääkäris's carrying system. The support frame of the Rajajääkäri is exactly the same as in the Border Patrol Backpack, which has been in heavy use by the Finnish Border Guard for more than 25 years.

The carrying system is designed for hard conditions. The ergonomic carrying straps and sturdy cushioned waist belt offers durability and comfort for carrying. The Rajajääkäri is an anatomical rosna backpack and does not have an external tubular frame, which allows you to move with the backpack even in cramped spaces. Also for a world traveler, this type of backpack is perfect due its adaptability.

Wide shoulder straps and a waist belt supports and distribute the load evenly. Adjustments to the shoulder straps are handled with ladder buckles made of Delrin special plastic compound. The shoulder staps also have a separate adjustment for the distance of the backpack. This adjustment is used according to the terrain and / or when you want to shift the weight of the load more to your hips and rest your shoulders. The chest strap of the shoulder straps keeps the shoulder straps firmly in place and helps to even out the load. The length and height of the chest strap can be adjusted. In addition, the shoulder straps have fastening rings for small accessories.

The waist belt is particularly sturdy and the lumbar cushion sits against your back. The strong 40mm quick buckle of the waist belt holds the belt tightly, but is also quick to open. The belt is tightened and loosened with 40mm ladder buckles on both sides of the hips, which makes the direction of movement ergonomically correct and is very easy to use. The waist belt also has additional adjustments on both sides, with which the backpack bag can be pulled more tightly to the hips, so that the Rajajääkäri is not allowed to run from side to side, for example when running. The hip belt is completely detachable and can also be attached one notch higher or lower, so the backpack can be adjusted to suit the user. When detached, this belt with full-length molle webbing acts as an accessory belt (dutybelt / battlebelt) to which any additional Molle- suitable pockets and accessories can be attached. The waist belt's back cushion is intentionally sturdy, supporting the user's lumbar even with a heavy load. You can also change the back cushion to a softer one, or leave it out completely.

The neck of the Rajajääkäri is a carrying handle, from which it is easy to move the backpack when the backpack is not on your back.
